Retzer Nature Center
October Meeting – Wednesday, October 2nd, 2019, 7:00 PM
Program –Randy Scherkenbach – Drone and Aerial Photography: Randy will discuss techniques and his experiences taking photos using drones and other methods for aerial photography. He will share some of the amazing images he has created from this unique vantage point.
Member Image Sharing:
Members are encouraged to submit several (up to five) images to share with the club for gentle critique. This is a great way to get suggestions for improving your images and developing your photographic skills. In order to give everyone a chance to share their images during the year, we will select several individuals who will be featured at each meeting. Other individuals may also provide images which will be shared as time permits.
The following members will be featured this month: Jocelyn Ritger, Roy Schneider, Caryl Sedushak, Jyoti Sengupta and Brian Sprague.
Please email your images to Tom Wright ( TomWrightwi@gmail.com ) by Tuesday, October 1st. When submitting your images, please change the file name to include your name as the first information in the file name. This will help to streamline the process of viewing member images. We look forward to seeing your images.

Special Club Meeting Opportunity: The Unlimited Vision Photo Club has invited us to join them at their October 17thmeeting where the program will be a presentation by professional wildlife photographer John Van Den Brandt. Check out John’s images at www.wildwindimages.com. This promises to be an excellent program, and we thank the Unlimited Vision club for inviting us. The Unlimited Vision Photo Club meets at Citizens Bank – 2109 Corporate Drive, Waukesha. Enter through the front door and take the stairs / elevator to the second floor meeting room. The meeting starts at 7:00 PM with the doors opening at 6:30 PM for some social time. Mark the date on your calendar!
December Meeting Information: Our December meeting will be our annual Holiday Party. Spouses and guests are invited to join in this opportunity, so make sure you invite them and have them get the date marked on their calendars! This will be a good opportunity for them to meet your fellow club members and see some of the wonderful images our club members create.
As in the past, we will give members a chance to show off some of their best images from the year. This year each member may submit up to eight of their favorite images from 2019. We will put your images into a program for the evening. We will also be asking members to bring some light refreshments. Additional information on how to submit your images and a request for refreshments will be in the November Newsletter.
Our club meetings and activities are planned and managed by a group of officers who make up our Board of Directors. The officer positions are President, Vice President, Treasurer, Program Chair and Outings Chair. The officers serve a two-year term. All officer terms will be expiring at the end of this year. This is your opportunity to take a direct role in helping the club plan its future activities. If you would like to be considered for an officer position or would like additional information about the officer duties, please contact our President Tom Wright (TomWrightwi@gmail.com)
Photo field trips are a great way for us to share our common enjoyment of photography, learn some new techniques and share in camaraderie while getting to know our fellow club members. Our Outings Co-chairs, Elizabeth Whitcomb and Caryl Sedushak, are working on a schedule that will include some of our traditional outings plus a few new ones. They are always looking for your ideas of some places you would find interesting for a club outing. If you have any ideas of places you would like to have us shoot, please send your ideas to our Outings Chairperson, Elizabeth Whitcomb (firstname.lastname@example.org) Better yet, why not offer to coordinate a field trip. It's not hard - find a place you would like to go, pick a date and we can announce it to the club. Perhaps you have a favorite place for fall colors or winter scenery.
2019 Field Trips: None are scheduled at this time.
Our camera club now has a Facebook page! If you are on Facebook, simply put Retzer Nature Center Camera Club in the search box and you will find us. Here are the general rules you need to know to participate:
A. The circuit will consist of two (2) divisions – Color and Monochrome.
B. General Guidelines:
A member of a participating club may submit only one (1) print in each division.
1. Subject matter in both divisions is open.
2. Post production processes of any type are allowed.
3. Images submitted in previous Print Circuits are not allowed.
D. Prints submitted:
1. Size of paper should be between 8 - 12 inches on its longest dimension. The other dimension is limited
to a maximum size of 8 1⁄2 inches. Therefore, the largest image size that a print may be is 8 1⁄2 x 12.
Paper may be trimmed to remove excess. This allows for the most basic image sizes - 8x10, 8 1/2x11, 8x12
2. Square prints are limited to a maximum size of 8 1⁄2 by 8 1⁄2.
3. Images that are larger than 8-1⁄2 x 12 or 8-1⁄2 x 8-1⁄2 will be disqualified. Images submitted on paper
larger than 8-1⁄2 x 12 will be disqualified.
4. Prints must be loose – no mounting allowed.
5. Monochrome prints are defined as “representations in black & white or in varying tones of only one (1)
color”. Prints that include a second color will be disqualified.
6. Each print must have TITLE, photographer NAME and CLUB listed on the back of the print.
7. Being a member of more than one WACCO affiliated club does not entitle the entrant to submit more
than one (1) color print and one (1) monochrome print.
